In 1948, Jim Harvey converted Morgans Bakery on
Owen Brown became very widely known for his work, and the business was established with a large client base. Owen sold his business in 1982 to Ken Ayling, one of Owens full time trimmers.
When Ken Ayling took over the business, he chose to continue with the name Owen Brown and he employed a school leaver named Darryl Butson. Neville Dewson also was the third team member employed by Ken. When Ken had to sell the business in 2000 due to terminal illness, it was logical for Darryl to take over and continue.
Darryl chose to continue with the name Owen Brown Auto Upholsterers for some years. He employed another junior to learn the trade. Ken continued to work for Darryl part time, however sadly Ken passed away in July 2001. Neville has also retired a few years ago. Now Darryl has renamed the business but kept the same values, built a brand new premises,on the same location the original bakery and upholstery were.
WE WARMLY INVITE YOU to visit our workshop, at 55 Arthur Street Invercargill, to call in and see Darryl or Amanda or Marco, and talk to us about your beloved Automobile, or anything it is that YOU NEED COVERED!
